EDITORIAL/BOOK PRODUCTION

Winter/Spring 2010

Samuel French, Inc. is offering unique internships to qualified and eager individuals who are interested in dramatic literature and the publishing process. Duties will be split among two different departments in the company—book production and editorial—potentially offering a student a well-rounded experience of the professional play publishing business.

Production duties may include assisting the Production Manager in copyediting scripts and digitizing materials, as well as website and database maintenance.

Editorial duties will be comprised of reading and evaluating plays, archiving published plays, copyright research, and assisting the Managing Editor in the administration of the submission process.

Interns will also be involved with the administration of two play competitions: The Samuel French OOB Short Play Competition, and the Baker’s Plays HS Playwriting Contest.

Other duties and opportunities, as they arise, may also be included.

As a theatrical publishing and licensing house with over five thousand active plays and musicals and 180 years of operation, the experience and exposure a student can receive while working at Samuel French is priceless in the professional arena.

REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should currently be pursuing, or recently in receipt of, a college degree. Graduate students are also welcome to apply. The internship is 20 hours a week, specific schedule to be determined upon acceptance. There is a $50 per week stipend for this internship. Please email a copy of your resume and a cover letter explaining your interest to:

Dear Actors and Actresses,

I’m the Casting Director for Liz Mansfield’s HFC Film, “The Immolation Game.” It is a dark fantasy with a message. Many of the parts have been filled, but we are still looking for:

CLAIRE – Female Lead, relatable, everyday person, ambitious, but prone to error and manipulation; must be able to handle complex lines and create subtle facial/body expressions
THE DIE HARD – Male Lead, antagonist, brutish, intelligent, manipulative and aggressive; must be able to handle complex lines and create subtle facial/body expressions
THE TIME PASSED – Supporting Male, aristocratic, considers himself a thinker but is actually quite dense; must be able to handle complex lines and create subtle facial/body expressions

Filming will be November 7th, 8th, 14th, and 15th.

For more information on the film, go here:

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=278789675458&ref=ts

Production will take place morning through evenings with likely much down time for actors during set ups. There is no pay, but you will be given a copy of the film. Free meals on set. Shooting will be on campus.

It will be submitted into the Winter HFC Film Festival, and you will have the chance to win an award for Best Acting.

Please send your resumé and head shot if interested to
umbrella.pictures@gmail.com Film experience and a reel is a plus!

Thank you so much,
Audrey Chow
